The Byelorussian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Brest branch
General Information
The history of the Brest Branch goes back to the
year of 1962 when a representation office of the All-Union Chamber of
Commerce was opened at the Brest-Central Station of the Belarusian Railway.
In 1964 the Representation office was transformed into the Brest Region
Commodity Examination Bureau under the Byelorussian Branch of the All-Union
Chamber of Commerce. In 1979 it was transformed into the Brest Branch
of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Byelorussian SSR.
At present the unitary enterprise «Brest Branch of the Belarusian Chamber
of Commerce and Industry» has been implementing the aims and tasks of
its founder, i.e. the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in
its region.
Many-sided activity carried out by the Unitary Enterprise has its specific
features attributed to location of the Brest region and the city of
Brest at the junction of state borders of Belarus, Poland and Ukraine.
This is a very important transport and trade crossroad. The pioneer
free economic zone «Brest» as well as the establishment and development
of an Euro-region «Bug» exert primary control over operation of the
Enterprise.
The «Belovezhskaya Pushcha» National Park is also located in the territory
of the Brest region. This is the oldest forest preserve in Europe placed
on the World Heritage List and given the status of a Biosphere Reserve
by UNESCO's resolution.
In its activity the Enterprise closely cooperates with governmental
bodies and first of all with the Committee for economic and marketing
relations, with the regional territorial committee for business and
investment, administration of FEZ «Brest» and other organizations.
The Enterprise maintains and develops cooperation with regional chambers
of commerce in Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia,
Lithuania, and Kazakhstan. They have concluded 42 agreements on cooperation
with them. Business relations with Bialo-Podlaska CC, Polish-Belarusian
CCI, Volyn CCI, Kaunas CCI, Debrecen CC are especially close which makes
it easier for the Enterprise to attain its objectives.
